Richard West

Richard George West, 68, Clarksville, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, NY. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Deacon Dominick Azzara officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born January 30, 1942 in Watertown, NY son of the late, Russell J. West, and Geraldine Butler West, after the death of his parents he was raised by his grandmother, Nellie Butler. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Walsworth West of 41 years, he then remarried to Janet Lilly West in 2006. Mr. West was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Metal, AF Commendation Medal, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device with one silver and 2 bronge oak leaf clusters, AF Good Conduct Medal with one silver and one bronze oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Metal with five bronze oak leaf clusters, AF Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, AF Longevity Award Ribbon with five bronze oak leaf clusters, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Device and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a Imagery Interpreter Technician, Medical Service Superintendent and Structural Superintendant. In 1986 he retired and began a career as a structural inspector for the Department of Defense transferring to Ft. Campbell, KY and retiring as Civilian in March of 2005. He was of the Catholic Faith. Survivors include his wife, Janet Lilly West; his sister, Carol Ladouceur; brothers, Larry West and wife (Carol); and Ronnie West; brother-in-law, Robert Walsworth; sister-in-law, Lynette Allen; several nieces and nephews, Jerri and Tim McGill, Russ West, Heather Brossoit, Dakota West, Lynn Chandler, Amanda Campbell, Brooke Dahl, Lisa Gibbs and Leslie Porter.
