Richard “Ricky” Dale Smith, age 58, absent from the body, present with the Lord on Friday, July 1, 2016.
Ricky was born on July 29, 1957 in Clarksville, TN. He is survived by sisters, Mary Garza (Magnolia TX), Ann Fain (Southside, TN), Deborah Caruso (Joelton, TN), Deloris Crisp (Groveland, Florida) and brothers Gary Gabehart,(Southside, TN) and Robert Boon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brother (Greg Harris) and his parents Orville & Melba Maloy Smith. He will be deeply missed.
He earned a High School diploma and obtained his Cosmetology license. He was a hairstylist at many upscale hair salons and a waiter at some of the finest restaurants in the Chicago land area. He was also involved with a charitable organization in the Uptown area of Chicago, called The Inspiration Cafe. This organization provides meals to homeless or poor men, women and families. At one point in his life, he wanted to receive the training to counsel those in need.
He loved his family and friends...he loved everyone. He also loved his cats. He was always a lot of fun to be around. He loved working Soduko puzzles, listening to all kinds of music and watching movies. He enjoyed sitting in the park and walking by the lakeshore where he lived in Chicago. At one time, he got a camera to pursue photography as a hobby.
Words used to describe Ricky are sweet, funny, wonderful, warm and good. He never looked down on anyone and he was always willing to help those in need. If you knew him, or just met him one time, you loved him.
He was a Christian and has attended many different churches, most recently the Wells of Salvation Church in Chicago. He would always say he loved Jesus with all his heart.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 9 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at McReynolds Nave & Larson Funeral Home, 1209 Madison St Clarksville, TN. There will be an hour visitation prior to the service at 12:00 p.m.
Richard “Ricky”...everyone loved him and he could always make you laugh.
