Richard Kniffen is survived by his wife of 22 years, Carol Kniffen. He was the father of five children: Chad (34) and wife Ingrid (29); Nick (32); Alyssa (31); Dave (35) and wife Christina (35); AJ and wife Becky (28). He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren: Skyler (11), Braden (10), Aubrie (8), and Ethan (5).
Richard retired from General Motors after a career of honest, hard work in Lansing, Michigan and Spring Hill, Tennessee. He was known from Tennessee to Michigan for his “Kniffen charm,” as a storyteller (*ahem* award-winning liar), writer (who could forget his hand-written letters?), fisherman, and hunter. He always treated people well, was quick to share and help where he could, and despite his stern exterior, had a kind heart. He is now “fixing” heaven with some duct-tape, or telling a stranger about “that one time”, or looking for a big large-mouth bass on a beautiful lake under clear blue skies, or causing some shenanigans to get a good laugh. He was never afraid to be his own man, a singular individual, living life as he saw best. He was loved by his family, loved by his friends, enjoyed by strangers, and will be dearly missed (but not missed by deer).
A celebration of his life will be held at 3pm at:
763 Grovenburg Road
Holt, Michigan 48842
