Rev. Larry Gene Mulberry departed this life at the age of 73 on Saturday, November 13, 2021.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Clarksville, 499 Commerce Street, with Drs. Ronny Raines and Roger Freeman officiating. The Mulberry family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. He will be laid to rest in Adairville, Kentucky at the Greenwood Cemetery.
Larry entered into this life on July 1, 1948, in Georgetown, Kentucky to the late Lawrence Mulberry and Iva Jean Perkins Mulberry. He was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and a 1974 graduate of Southern Seminary, where he received his Master of Divinity degree. With the heart of a servant and the support of his beloved wife Gayle, Larry enjoyed a 50-year career in ministry, sharing the Gospel with countless individuals and leading many hearts to Jesus. Among the churches he served in leadership roles are Calvery Baptist Church, Seymour, IN, First Baptist Church, Affton, MO, East Baptist Church, Paducah, KY, New Bethel Baptist Church, Eddyville, KY, Lovelaceville Baptist Church, Lovelaceville, KY, Greenland Baptist Church, Corbin, KY, Hillcrest Baptist Church, Clarksville, TN, New Eden Presbyterian Church, Clarksville, TN, and Spring Valley Baptist Church, Russellville, KY.
For a combined 15 years, Larry volunteered as a Chaplain at the former Clarksville Memorial Hospital and Gateway Hospital and more recently at Tennova Health Care. He was also a supporter of high school athletics, having umpired baseball and refereed basketball for KHSAA (Kentucky High School Athletics Association). Larry was known for his charismatic, larger-than-life personality and caring, loving disposition. Since his retirement from the ministry, Larry and his wife Gayle have shared membership and worshipped at First Baptist Church in Clarksville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Mulberry. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Gayle Baldwin Mulberry; children, Brian Mulberry (Kelli), Stephen Mulberry (Heather), and Holly Khamphengphet; grandchildren, Trevor Mulberry, Molli Teague, Caleb Khamphengphet, Abby Khamphengphet, and Lucas Khamphengphet; and brother, Tommy Mulberry.
Serving as pallbearers are Brian Mulberry, Steven Mulberry, Caleb Khampengphet, Trevor Mulberry, Troy Balwin, Chance Baldwin, and James Plankers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ray Stone Sunday School Class.
