Rev. Jessie Tharpe

Rev. Jessie R. Tharpe, age 79, of Clarksville, TN passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
Celebration of Life will be held 7 pm Thursday, February 16, 2023 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with his son, Rev. Joshua Tharpe officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 5 p.m.
Burial with Full Military Honors will be 9 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2023, at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
Jessie entered this life on September 13, 1943, in Rhea County, TN to the late George and Jessie Parks Tharpe. He was a graduate of Spring City High School in Spring City, TN and a member of Mt. Gilead Church in Allensville, KY. In October of 1961, Jessie entered into the United States Air Force. He served through the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant. After 20 years of dedicated and honorable service, Jessie retired from the US Air Force in 1981. He went on to work for Civil Service at Ft. Campbell, KY, where he worked for 34 years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Claude Tharpe, Ed Tharpe, Ralph Tharpe, Glen Tharpe, Wendell Tharpe, W.G. Tharpe, Bill Tharpe, Leon Tharpe, and Agnes Collins.
Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Snipes Tharpe; children, Joshua (Shari) Tharpe, Aaron (Dana) Tharpe, Tracey Jones, Kimbley Anders, Teresea Martin, and Sarah (David) Harner; brothers, Donald Tharpe; sister, Lucy Wright; grandchildren, Danny, Meagan, Brittany, Elizabeth, Breanna, A..D., Alvin, Gavin, Michael, David, Destiny, Charles, Natalee, Cooper, and Kaylee; great-grandchildren, Adrian, Dallas, Christopher, Evelyn, and Charles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
