Ret. SSG Floyd Oakes

Ret. SSG Floyd Oakes 87, of Clarksville, TN passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at his residence.
A Graveside Service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2021, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
Floyd was born in Unity, Maine on December 20, 1933; to the late William and Erma Oakes. He retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service and was awarded The Bronze Star Medal. Floyd had a passionate heart for animals and enjoyed volunteering at Cats R US.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Gertraude T. Oakes and seven siblings.
Survivors include his daughter, Silvia Oakes; and grandchildren, Sarah Crowley, Paige Crowley; great grandchildren, Maddox Tucker, Jaxon Hagan; sister, Beverly Rollins of Pittsfield, Maine; several nieces and nephews, and many faithful and loving friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksville Humane Society.
