(RET) GYSGT Charles Sweeney

(RET) GYSGT Charles “Charlie” William Sweeney, age 68 of Erin, TN, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, in Nashville, TN. A celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Dan Alsobrooks officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at the Willingham Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday afternoon.
Charles entered this life on January 31, 1953 in Washington D.C., son to the late Gerald Sweeney and Phyllis Jean Willingham. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served his country faithfully for over 30 years in many wars and conflicts. A more detailed account of his military career will be published in a forthcoming obituary.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his infant son, Charles William Sweeney Jr, and his dear brother, Billy Sweeney. He also was preceded in death by two of his beloved pets that he loved like children, Patton and Bella.
Charles leaves behind his loving daughters, Angela Sweeney, Sydney Ross Sweeney; as well as his sister, Ellen Crusoe.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gerald Rye, Lyn Smith, Joel Ross, Clifford McGowen, Brett Alsobrooks, Freddie Lyle, Butch Crowder and Bryan Flint.
