Reathy Stokes

Reathy (Granny) Gibbs Stokes, 93, Oak Grove, KY, went to be with the Lord,Monday, June 29, 2009, at Baptist Hospital, Nashville. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m Thursday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with grandson-in-laws, Rev. Cal Hampton and Randle Davis officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home. She was born December 14, 1915 in Todd County, KY and was the daughter of the late, D.W. and Mamie Abigail Knight Gibbs. Mrs. Stokes was former co-owner and bookkeeper for Stokes Garage at Fort Campbell, a member of Little West Fork Baptist Church, past President and Treasurer of Ringgold School PTA, and New Providence Civinette where she was Civinette of the year in 1973. Survivors include her husband of seventy five years, Nelson Stokes, Oak Grove, KY; sons, Calvin (Shirley) Stokes, C.W. (Corene) Stokes, Edward Ernie Stokes; daughter, Ethel (Bill) Tierney, all of Clarksville; sister, Dean Culbertson, Chicago, IL; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons, David Stokes, Ricky Stokes, Lee Tierney, Wesley Tierney, Terry Stokes, Jerry Stokes, "T" Smith, Lee Edmondson and Paul Landrum. Memorials may be made to the church of your choice.
