Ray Ewing Thompson, age 65, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Geoffrey Sikes officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The Thompson family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday.
Ray was born on August 3, 1952 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Vernon Ray Thompson and Pat Givens Thompson. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved Alabama football. As a young man, Ray was a medic in the United States Army. He later began working in Real Estate and enjoyed his career. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Trenton Crossing.
In addition to his mother, Ray is survived by his loving wife, Cindie Barlet Thompson; sons, Stephen Waddell (Lori) and Ryan Walters; daughters, Regina Thompson, Tiffany Perry (Jeff), Ashley Sullivan, Lindsey Adams (Todd), Michelle Thompson; niece, Brittany Rasco (Justin); aunts and uncles, Lee Givens, Charles Edward Givens, JoAnn Gilbert, Linda Couch, Jimmie Van Hooser, Dale Givens, Wanda Givens, Bobby Givens, Nina Thompson, Martha Ruth Thompson, and Mary Givens; and many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Ray Thompson, brother, Philip Thompson, and aunts, Nora Sutton and Margaret Finchum.
Pallbearers will be Joe Lehman, Houston King, Jeff Perry, Stephen Waddell, Rusty Evans, Melvin Van Hooser, Dale Givens, and Ryan Batson. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders at the Church of Christ at Trenton Crossing, Harold Galbrith, Dr. Harold Vann, and Tommy Gilbert.
