Ray St. John, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee on March 8th, 2025, at the age of 73, surrounded by his family. Born on November 12th, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ray lived a life marked by service, dedication, and a profound love for his family.
Ray proudly served in the United States Army for five years, embodying the values of honor and commitment. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career as a truck driver, a profession that allowed him to explore the vast landscapes of America while providing for his family. His adventurous spirit was not confined to the road; Ray was an avid outdoorsman, who cherished hunting and fishing—activities that brought him joy and connection with nature.
A devoted family man, Ray is survived by his loving wife, Donita St. John, and his daughter, Mary St. John, stepson, Steven Jones, and grandson, Alex St. John, who will carry on his legacy through their cherished memories. In addition, Ray is remembered by his siblings, Linda St. John and Richard St. John (Roberta), as well as several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Ray and Violet St. John, and his sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Kenneth Poston, nephews, Robert E. St. John and Billy R. Dinsmore, as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents.
A visitation will be held at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home in Clarksville, Tennessee. The first visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by another visitation on Thursday, March 13th, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Life will follow at the funeral home on Thursday, March 13th, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM. Ray will then be laid to rest with Military Honors at Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Ray St. John will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who shared in his journey.
