SGM Theofilo Raymundo Macias, 83, a true American Hero, has been called up for duty to serve in the Lord' almighty army of elite angels in heaven. Ray peacefully left this earth surrounded by the love from his devoted wife and other loving family members holding vigil at his bedside at 11:53pm, October 14th, 2008 at Gateway Medical Center. Ray Macias was born January 8, 1925 in Wilmington, CA, the son of the late Jose and Josephene Macias. Strong-willed and a leader since birth, Ray served over 30 years in the military, fighting for our country in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. A US Army retired SGM and decorated soldier with honors to include: Soldier Medal, Bronze Star Medal w/ "V" Device & 2D OLC, Air Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal 2D OLC, Valorous Unit Award, Presidential Unit Citation Meritorious Unit Commendation, Combat Infantryman Badge, Korean Service Medal w/5 Campaign Stars, Army of Occupation Medal, Master Parachutist Badge, Commendation Ribbon w/Pendant, Vietnam Service Medal w/11 Campaign Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Medal (1st Class), Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), national Defense Service Medal 1st OLC, Four Oversea Service Bars, Combat Infantryman Badge (2d Award) and the Army Commendation Medal 3D OLC. After his retirement from the military, Ray Macias began his 17 year career as a mechanic for the Clarksville City Garage which he later retired as well. He was a devoted Christian and member of Saint Michaels Catholic Church, (Oak Grove), member of the WK&T and the 187th Association. Ray' legacy lives on through his beloved wife of 55 years, Ruby Jane Macias (Clarksville); three sons, Ray Macias, Alex Macias and Tony Macias (all of Clarksville); two daughters, Josephene Plattner (Michigan) and CJ Macias (Clarksville); two brothers, Cheve Macias (Texas) and Alfred Macias (California); nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Father David Kennedy officiating and Harvey Appleman assisting. Burial and our final salute to Ray will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ramon Aquino, Ed Lewis, Manny Garcia, Wayne Tue, John Myers, Don Lambert, Harvey Appleton, Anthony Rogers, Don Trotter, Mike Reda, Ski Ludwikowski and Harvey Appleman.
