Ray Deason

April 1, 1927 — December 20, 2016

Mr. Ray Cook Deason, age 89 of Tennessee Ridge, TN, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Three Rivers Hospital in Waverly, TN.
A celebration of his life will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 24, 2016 at the Erin Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Daniel Medders officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery with full Military Honors.
The Deason family will receive friends on Friday at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service Saturday morning at the Erin Church of the Nazarene.
Ray entered this life on April 1, 1927 in New Smyrna Beach, FL, son to the late Paul Octavious and Sara Kathryn Long Deason. Upon graduation, Ray joined the United States Coast Guard where he proudly served his country. After his time in the service, Ray served his community of Houston County in many areas. Ray for twenty one years served as a basketball and baseball official for the middle Tennessee Region, he belonged to the Erin Rotary Club, The Houston County Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Stewart-Houston Industrial Park Board and the Joint Economic and Development Board. Ray was proud to serve as the Tennessee Ridge vice Mayor, and the Lord High Mayor in 1982. Ray was a faithful member of the Erin Church of the Nazarene, and was the manager of D&C Auto Parts for forty plus years. Ray was devoted to his community and was proud to serve in any capacity.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brother, John Deason, and sister, Ester Carroll.
Survivors include his loving wife of 23years, Judith Ramsey Deason; children, Gay Robinson (Pat), Gray Deason (Tonya), Clay Deason (Melinda), Shay Deason (Cathy), Phil Deason, Sandy Foster, Susan Valentini; brother, Bill Deason; sister, Bonnie Hangline; and a host of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Mitchell, Terry Bruce, David Schmidt, David Deason, Morgan Robinson, Mason Robinson, and Mike Harris.
