Ralph Edward McCurdy, 83, Southside, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at his residence. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Bro. Wayne Shelby and Rev. Melvin E. Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Rye's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m.until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home. He was born April 3, 1927, in Montgomery County and was preceded in death by his parents, William Warren and Betty Wall McCurdy, and two infant brothers. Mr. McCurdy was a World War II Veteran serving as a combat medic. He attended Austin Peay and was a lifetime farmer in Montgomery County. He served eight years on the Board of Directors for Farm Bureau, twelve years as a Montgomery ASCS Committeeman, and twelve years on the Board of Directors Federal Land Bank. He was a member of Lee's Chapel Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Verda Weems McCurdy; five children, Gayle (Joe) Minniehan, Clarksville, Darlene (Larry) Mixon, Cunningham, Malcolm McCurdy, Nashville, Mark McCurdy, Southside, Teresa (Greg) Mitchell, Clarksville; sister, Marie McCurdy Neblett, Cunningham; five grandchildren, Danielle (Chip) Renshaw, Brian (Kathryn) Minniehan, Wes (Melissa) Mixon, Chandler Mitchell, Brooklynn Mitchell; and two great-grandsons, Evan Mixon and Jackson Minniehan. Pallbearers will be Phillip Buckner, Brian Minniehan, Wes Mixon, David Neblett, James Neblett and Chip Renshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be John Weems and Rueben Grimes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any of the following cemetery funds, Rye's Chapel, Mt. Zion or Lee's Chapel.
