PSG (Ret) Thomas Willard

Thomas M. Willard, age 86, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Harwell will be officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, and Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
He was born on December 5, 1931 in Dyer County, TN son to the late Adley and Pauline Willard. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Thomas was a retired Veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam and Korean Conflict. He was a 33rd Degree Mason, and a member of Blue Lodge. He also served with 501st/86 Land clearing, 55th Engineers, Ft. Leonard Wood, and was a Drill Instructor with 55th and 101st. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, T.L., and Aubrey Willard, and Paul Howard, sister, Frances Spears, and great-grandson, Caleb. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Horner Willard; daughters, Tommie (Ronald) Butler, Julie (George) Tinsley, Susan (Ben) Smitherman, and Cynthia (Kris) Urquhart; brother, Robert A. Willard; grandchildren, Brandy, Amber, Jennifer, Shawn, Thomas, David, Sarah, Riley, and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Clifton, Madison, Shawna, Jason, Gage, Tristan, and Coraline. Pallbearers will be Jordan Long, Thomas Owen, David Owen, Jonathan Gerkin, Ben Smithermen, Jon Ward.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church.
