Phillip Walter Gervais, 74, Dover, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Gateway Medical Center after a short illness. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkisnville, with full military honors at 1:00 p.m. Friday. Visitation will be from 4-7:30 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. A Rosary will be held 7:30 Thursday at the funeral home. He was born January 28, 1934 in North Dartmoth, MA, son of Eugene Louis Gervais and Malvina Gavel Gervais. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wayne Gervais, and a sister, Deloris (Hashim) Gibson. Mr. Gervais was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He was a retired SFC of the U.S. Army where he served two tours in Vietnam and was a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade - detachment of the 501st and was instrumental in the defense of Bien Hoa Airbase in Vietnam. Most recently he was owner of Tennessee Cap and Shirt Works. Survivors include his wife, Mary Johnson Gervais, Dover; sons, Thomas Gervais, Dover, James David Wimber, Clarksville; daughter, Stacy White, Dickson; brother, Eugene Gervais, Truro, MA; sister, Constance Eckhart, Wheelersburg, OH; and seven grandchildren.
