Pete Parchman

Plummer Mitchell (Pete) Parchman, the son of Charlie and Gaither Powers parchman was born May 10, 1923.He departed this life November 28, 2011, at Signature Health Care, his home for the past five years. Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Nave Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Haley Robinson officiating. Visitation will be Friday, December 2, 2011, from 4:30pm until 8pm and Saturday morning prior to the service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Jackson Parchman, in 2001.He is survived by his daughter, Shirley (Shelby) Rye; two grandsons, Brian (Colleen) Rye of Falls Church, Va and Ryan Rye of Lawrenceville, Ga, one great grandson, Alex Rye of Falls Church, Va. and a host of nieces and nephews, as well as numerous”extended family caregivers” at Signature Health Care facility where he was affectionately known as “Uncle Pete”. Pete was the last surviving member of Charlie and Gaither’s family. Those members included three brothers; William (Mildred) Parchman, George (Edwene) Parchman;Ewing (Irene) Parchman and two sisters: Nannie Lee (Robert) Claxton and Olivia (Harold) Milton. Pete was a retired employee from Orgain Building Supply and a retired farmer. Prior to entering SHC, Pete had lived his entire life on the farm as a fifth-generation farmer dating back to the land settlements in the 1790s.He was also an active member of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church for many years. His church and his farm were his two great passions. Following the service, interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darrell Parchman, Dean Parchman, Fred Parchman, Evan Parchman, Jeff Parchman, Robert Parchman, and Scott Parchman.
