Angeline (Peggy) Elizabeth Weaver, 101, MT. Pleasant SC., died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Her Residence. The funeral will be held at 1:00pm Saturday at Nave Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cane Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30pm till service Saturday at the funeral home. Nave Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Elizabeth Ryan Weaver died March 29, 2008 at the age of 101. She passed away peacefully at her home in Mt. Pleasant, SC that she shared with daughter Virginia Weaver Gratson who was at her side. Elizabeth or "Peggy" as she was known to family, was born August 27, 1906 in Memphis, Tn. She was very devoted to Bellevue Baptist church and it's pastor Robert G Lee. She graduated from Memphis State Teachers Collage in the early 1920s and worked as a teacher. She met Hurbert Alfonso Weaver while on a trip to McKinnon, Tn. They married on Dec 25, 1936 in Memphis and set up housekeeping in Detroit, MI where Hurbert was living and working in the Auto Industry. They had 2 children Frank Hurbert and Virginia Louise. Hurbert and Elizabeth were happily married for 69 years until his death in 2006. Elizabeth received her Master's Degree from Wayne State University in the 1950s. She was a highly respected 3rd grade teacher at County Line Elementary in Michigan for many years. She retired from teaching in 1971 and passionately pursued hobbies such as gardening, reading, studying the bible, and traveling widely with family and friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Troy. She was also a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star Rochester/Troy, MI. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Weaver of Mt, Pleasant, SC (formally of Troy, MI), Grandchildren, Lisa M Weaver, West Linn, or, Elizabeth Gratson Querio, (Tony) Ortonville, MI, Frank R Weaver, Greenville, SC, Karen A Weaver, New Haven, MI, Richard T Gratson, San Diego, CA, and Laura M Gibson (Weaver)(Howard), New Haven, MI, Great-Grandchildren, Jonathon, Brandon, and Aaron Gibson, Nicholas and Benjamin Querio, and Joseph Weaver. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Ann Weaver(Max), Erin Tn. and Nephew Robert Ryan(Anita), Memphis, TN. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Hurbert, in April of 2006 and her son, Frank, in January of 2000. She was also predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Nowland(Pat) Ryan.
