Jeanette Uffelman - 1920 Paulina Jeanette Uffelman, 90, Clarksville, died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Gateway Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 11am Saturday at Nave Funeral Home Chapel Erin,Tn. with Bro. Terry Mathis officiating. Burial will be in Alsobrooks Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9am until service Saturday at the funeral home. Nave Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born on Wells Creek in Houston County on August 7, 1920 to William Martin and Emma Wright Uffelman. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Osman Samuel and Marion Turner and by her niece Heather Uffelman. Jeannette attended Camp Ground School and Yellow Creek High School where she was active in 4-H and played basketball. In 1940 she graduated from Huntington School of Beauty in West Virginia. During WWII she worked at Goodyear making gas masks for the war effort. She owned The Style Center on Franklin Street and served as treasurer for the National Hairdressers Association for many years. For five decades Jeannette was one of the few women who owned and operated a business in downtown Clarksville. She was a loving daughter to her parents, caring for them during their final years. Upon retirement she was active with family activities, recording family history and organizing family reunions, watching professional sports, and walking at the mall. She attended Camp Ground Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Erin and First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class, loved Wednesday Bible Study and went on ESP trips. She lived her last year in Sterling House Assisted Living receiving loving care. She is survived by her sister June Uffelman Nemethy, sisters-in-law Lois Uffelman and Helen Uffelman, and nieces and nephews, Keith Uffelman, Jan Uffelman, Moleise Uffelman Hemingway, Terri Nemethy, Minoa Uffelman, Joe Evans, Bambi Uffelman-Seay, Maria Uffelman, Natalie Uffelman, and Lance Uffelman, Melanie Hazen, niece in her heart. She is also survived by great nieces and nephews, Bradley Uffelman, Mayme Uffelman Studer, Garrett Seay, Heather Seay, Brittney Seay, Carrie Uffelman and Chas Uffelman, her honorary daughter Sandra Malone and dear friend Brenda Outlaw.
