Paul Edward Crews, 84, Indian Mound, died Monday, December 6, 2010, at his home. A celebration of life service will be held at 12 noon Thursday, December 9 at Blooming Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Blooming Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Paul was born August 2, 1926 in Cairo, Illinois, son of the late Strother Andrew Crews and Rubye Pearl Powell Crews. He was also preceded in death by brothers Tommy Crews, Andrew Jackson Crews, James Dee Crews and sisters Virginia Crews, Betty Cunningham, Juanita Overall, Patsy Ditch, and Kathy Flowers. Paul dutifully served his country with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theatre of WWII and continued his life of higher calling as a Southern Baptist minister. For over 60 years he performed the Lord's work in KY, TN, MO, and FL. He loved fishing and golf. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Marie Smith Crews; sons Gary Michael Crews of Miami, FL and Thomas Andrew Crews of Sun City, FL; daughter Paula Marie Crews Jones of Indian Mound; grandchildren Shelly Crews Joyce, Michael Hammonds, Joshua Medlin, Prestaen Medlin, Mark Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell, Victoria Raxter, Danielle Jones, and Caitlin Jones; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters Marie Lee, Janet Laughlin and Carol Hartwig, all of Missouri and Judy Angle of Indiana.
