Papa Pete Perry, 81, Southside, died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at his home. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 9 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Bro. James Black officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Saturday and from 12 noon until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home. Papa was born February 3, 1929 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee, son of Red and Dorothy Hand Perry. Also preceded in death by his step-father, Orbey Harvey and his grandparents, Ed and Etta Hand, who raised him. He was retired from the Montgomery Co. Highway Department and was a member of Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors inlcude his wife Thelma C. Perry of Southside; sons Jim Collins, Johnny Perry, Paul Perry, and Joey Perry, all of Southside, and Kevin Perry of Marietta, OK; daughters Shirley Ivey of Dickson, Linda Baggett of Clarksville, Nancy Adkins of Southside, Darlene Ransom of Clarksville, and Pamela Ball of Homestead, FL; brother Bobby Harvey of Southside; sisters Shirley McKinney, Maybell Keeler, and Bonnie Honey, all of Southside; and twenty nine grandchildren and twenty nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Patrick Perry, Chad Perry, Keith Foulks, Jason Ball, Jarren Collins, Shannon Adkins, Nathaniel Adkins and Paul Perry Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Newsom, Chris Perry, Carson Perry, and Colton Perry. The family request casual attire for the funeral.
