Opal Turney

Opal Turney, 98, Clarksville, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Grace Healthcare. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, Faith Building with Dr. Roger Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel and from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the church. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born February 22, 1910 in Auburntown, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Turney and her sons, Doyle Wayne Turney and James Ralph Turney. Mrs. Turney was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church for 66 years, where she taught Childrens Sunday School for 49 years. Survivors include her sons, Terry Turney, Nashville, Ed (Suzanne) Turney, Louisville, KY; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Scott Turney, Rudy Gernert, John Krstich, Kerry Gateley, Lee Turney, Kevin Turney, Jeff Turney, Jay Turney, Melissa Gernert, Faith Krstich and Laura Gateley. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Opal Turney Memorial, c/o First Baptist Church, 435 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN, 37040.
