Oda Clinton McCoig, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at his home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Bethel Memorial Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the hour of service on Saturday.
Oda was born on May 5, 1919 in Cosby, TN, the son of the late Archibald McCoig and Margarete Fox McCoig. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Chieko Nakajima McCoig; siblings, Foster McCoig, Clyde McCoig, Clarence McCoig, Don McCoig, Gartha McCoig Jones, Varna McCoig, Chester McCoig, Allen McCoig, and Ruth McCoig. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Oda owned McCoig’s Barber Shop for many years and also worked locally at Eastgate Barber Shop. He was a Retired First SGT World War II and Korean War Veteran, Airborne and Artillery. He was a very talented musician who played the guitar and fiddle and also was an avid gardener.
Survivors include his children, Maggie Dyer and husband Keith, Susan Schreiber, Tim McCoig, Norma McCoig, Ted McCoig and wife Mary, and Maxine Fields and husband Jody; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
