Norman Cletus Underwood, 80, Erin, TN, died Monday, May 17, 2010, at Alive Hospice, Nashville. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Dr. Lenoir Culbertson officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Erin, TN. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 12 noon until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born February 25, 1930 in Clarksville, son of the late Norman Hilton and Effie Underwood. He was also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Jean Clark Underwood and son Kerry H. Underwood. Mr. Underwood was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Masonic Wisdom Lodge #300, Erin, and Montgomery Central High School Class of 1948. He was a mill wright, pipe fitter, welder, and machinist for E.I. DuPont de Nemours, Inc., New Johnsonville, TN. Survivors include his son Kevin Underwood of Clarksville, step-grandchildren Charles E. "Buddy" Foust, III and William L. "Bill" Foust, both of Clarksville, Micah Allman of Dickson and Luke Allman of Nashville, and sisters Clematene Conway and Lucille (Tom) McWhorter, both of Cunningham. Pallbearers will be Charles E. Faust, III, William L. Faust, Arnold Hodges, Chad Carson, Tyler Schmid, Tracey Lewis, Curtis Clark, and Marc Schmid. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1378 Union Avenue Memphis, TN 38104-3623 or Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203-2926.
