Nola Moore

July 15, 1933 — September 2, 2023

Nola P. Moore, 90, of Clarksville, TN passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2023.

Nola was born on July 15, 1933, in North Carolina to John and Della Agnes (Barker) Pennington. She was the oldest of 11 children.

Nola lived in California for numerous years then moved to Clarksville, TN about 45 years ago and lived there until May of 2022 when she moved to Delaware because of illness and to be closer to family. For the past year she has resided at an assisted living facility in Dover until her passing.

She was a feisty person who always expressed her feelings occasionally using an expletive to get her point across. She loved to go shopping and when asked where she wanted to go, she usually said Good Will, but she loved Boscov’s. She also liked to eat! Many times, she would greet visitors with “I’m hungry!” She loved her chocolates and coffee.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leon Moore, her daughters, Joanne and Sharon, and two brothers, Robert Pennington and John Pennington, Jr.

Nola is survived by her daughter Peggy Darnell of Florida, sons Robert Ross (Susan) of West Grove, PA, and Steve O’Dell (Linda) of California, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Marie Webb (Donald) and Doris Wright both of Middletown, DE, Wanda Marquess (Norman) of Elkton, Maryland, Lorma Becker (Dave) of Glenmore, PA, Mary Jane Vita (Conn) and Barbara Patterson (Howard) of Coatesville, PA, her brothers James Pennington of Exton, PA and Richard Pennington of West Chester, PA.

Services will be held on Friday, September 8th, visitation will be from 10-11 am, the service will begin at 11 am at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE. The burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, TN.

Special thanks to the staff at Brookdale Dover for their care in the past year and to Accent Care Hospice especially Nurse Bree and Emily for their kindness and care even though it was only for a few days.
