Nelson (Nelse) A. Moore died at Sarah Cannon Cancer Center on September 22, 2014.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Carolyn Nobling officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Friday and from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
He was born on October 21, 1924 in Houston County, Son of George and Edna Beard Moore. He was preceded in death by Brothers Carlos (Cotton) Moore, Nick Moore, Sisters Valeria Moore, Mildred Berry and Ethel Gunson. He is survived by his devoted wife Mary Wilyard Moore, son Denny (Lee Ann) Moore, Granddaughter Grace Moore and Sister Emma Stophel.
Nelson served in the U.S. Marines and retired from the Cadillac division of General Motors. He moved back to Clarksville, married and He and Wife settled on her home place on Dotsonville Road. Growing up he attended Spring Hill UMC. He was a dedicated Christian that faithfully served God at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.
His favorite hobbies and pastimes were outings with his wife, walking, riding in God’s beautiful country side, growing flowers, the beach, mountains and listening to favorite tunes. Helping and visiting with people brought him great pleasure. He and wife delivered Meals on Wheels, assisted with chores at Church and in the Community. The fellowship and exercise at Ajax Turner Senior Center also enriched his life.
He enjoyed a great active life with family and friends, and was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. No matter where he roamed his heart always remained in his childhood home, Spring Hill community on Moore Branch.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Kenneth Moore, Cleo Moore, Jeff Moore, Charles Moseley, Billy Wilyard, and Patrick Wallace. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spring Hill UMC, Cindy Clark 2850 Highway 46N, Cumberland City, TN 37050 or Mount Pleasant UMC Myra Shelby PO Box 7, Woodlawn, TN 37191. The Congregations of these two Churches will serve as honorary Pallbearers.
