Nannie Belle Shelby, 84, Woodlawn, died Sunday, January 25, 2009, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesdasy at Dotsonville Church of Christ with Bro. Benny Hester and Bro. Wayne Shelby officiating. Burial will be in Dotsonville Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the church.
McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born May 20, 1924 in Indian Mound and was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander Castile and Bessie Land Castile; daughter-in-law, Peggy Shelby. Mrs. Shelby was a member of Dotsonville Church of Christ and a seamstress. Survivors include her husband, Staton Rex Shelby Sr., Woodlawn; son, Staton Rex (Gelean) Shelby Jr, Woodlawn; daughter, Carolyn (Michael) Fizer, Charlotte; brother, Willie Castile, Indian Mound; grandchildren, Michael Shelby, Dawn Riggins, Lynn Fizer, Darren Fizer; step-grandchildren, Brian Stephens, Daniel Stephens; six great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and her caretaker, Patty Peck. Pallbearers will be Paul Shelby, Mike Shelby, Michael Shelby, Darren Fizer, Phillip Castile, Wayne Ford, Charles Riggins. Honorary pallbearers will be Kent Griffy, Joe Oliver, Ronnie McKinney, Donnie Kirkland, Allen Waynick and Ricky Shelby. Memorial contributions may be made to Dotsonville Church of Christ or Gateway Hospice.
