Myrtle Underwood

Myrtle Mai Smithey Underwood, age 87 of Cunningham, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Tennova Healthcare.

Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon Saturday, November 21, 2020 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Dr. Garry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 20, 2020 from 4 to 7 p.m. and again Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Myrtle entered this life on January 30, 1933 in Montgomery County, TN to the late E.C. and Minnie Meadows Smithey. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, a devoted Christian, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. For the last eight months, Mrs. Myrtle spent her time making masks.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Underwood; daughters, Gail Ussery and Pamela Underwood, four brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include her children, Mike Underwood, Donna Goodlett, and Sheila (Larry) Hogue; grandchildren, Michael Ussery, Victoria Earp, Lindsey Underwood, Britney Hargis, Bethani Lyle, Justin Hogue, and Isaac Hogue, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be the members of Myrtle’s Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church.
