MSGT (Ret) Richard Andrew Gehl, age 88, of Clarksville passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with Air Force Honors rendered. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the funeral home.
Richard was born on July 23, 1928 in St. Louis, MO, son to the late Herbert Gehl and Rose Bolte Gehl. Richard was retired from a distinguished 27 year career with the U.S Air Force. He was a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, member of the VFW Post 4890, the DAV Hardy Shelby Chapter, and the Oak Grove American Legion. After his military service, Richard worked for Civil Service at Fort Campbell and graduated from Austin Peay State University, receiving a BBA and MBA.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Albertha Gehl; and siblings, Freddy, Rosalie, and Delores.
Survivors include his loving wife, Tammy Gehl; sons, Richard Gehl II and Robert Gehl; daughters, Pamela Coppel, Patricia Doyle; brothers, Donnie, Joe, and David; sisters, Mary, Naomi, and Ruth; 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; and step children Michelle and Scotty.
