MSG (Ret) Robert `Pitt` Pittman, 41, Clarksville, died Thursday, July 29, 2010, in Afghanistan. Pitt was born September 21, 1968 in Greenwood, MS. MSG Pittman was retired from the U.S. Army 5th Special Forces Group. He was the recipient of the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star with "V" device. He was the owner of Southern Eagle Consulting as an independent contractor. Pallbearers will be members of the Alpha Co. 1st Bat., 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He is survived by his wife Melissa and two daughters Loren and Robbie Pittman. Also his parents Wayne and Vicki Pittman, his sister and brother-in-law Allison and Sammy Cornelius of Mississippi. Also, in-laws Charlie and Tina Peebles and brother-in-law, Nick Peebles, all of Illinois. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Chapel with Deacon Dominick Azzara and Chaplain Maj. William Smith officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
