Minnie Akins

Minnie Pearl Akins, 79, of Clarksville, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. David Mackens officiating. Burial will follow in McWhorter Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Minnie was born July 9, 1932 in Palmyra, Tennessee, daughter of the late Thomas Franklin and Anna Laura Nesbitt Baggett. She graduated from Montgomery Central High School in 1952 and on June 20, 1953 she married her husband Frank in Springfield, Tennessee. She was a maintenance worker in Oak Brook, Illinois and belonged to Union Local #25. Minnie was an avid collector and loved playing card games with family and friends. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, James Franklin Akins of Clarksville; her children, Kathy E. Akins Wojciechowski (Bernard) of Lemont, IL, Linda G. Akins Swart (Thomas) of Sun City, Arizona, Kenneth W. Akins (Victoria J. Morse) of Hillsboro, MO., Joyce L. Akins Jensen (Jerry L.) of Cedar Rapids, IA, and James D. Akins of Clarksville; twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and her sister, Elsie M. Baggett Smith of Clarksville. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Otis Baggett.
Pallbearers will be Frank Hayes, Jerry Jensen, Bernie Wojciechowski, Brian Wojciechowski, Tom Swart, and Sam Hosang.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 209 10th Ave. South #228, Nashville, TN 37203.
