Melvin H. Cole, 78, Clarksville, died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Vanderbilt Medical Center, Nashville. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson with Dr. Roger Freeman & Chaplain Gene Horn officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, with full military honors. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home. He was born January 11, 1931 in Austin, TX and was the son of the late William and Louise Cole. Mr. Cole was a retired MSG for the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He was a Baptist, Mason and Shriner. He is survived by his wife, Martha Cole, Clarksville; sons, Nick Cole, Mike Cole, both of Jamestown, TN, Pat Cole, San Marcos, TX; daughters Shellie Jo Cole, Fort Worth, TX, Margaret Couk, Helena, AL, brothers, Joe Cole, Kenneth Cole, both of Austin, TX, Richard Cole, St. Petersburg, FL; sister, Billie Harville, Beaver Meadow, PA; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Gideons International.
