Melva Laverne Kingsmill-Dunbar, 72, passed away February 19, 2013 in Pensacola, FL, after a long fight with Alzheimer’s. A celebration of her life will be 2pm Saturday at Nave Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be from 4:30 pm until 8pm Friday and from 8am until service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at McMillan Cemetery. Melva was born September 27, 1940, in Houston Co, TN, to the late Frank Smith and Ella Lee Smith-Winters. She married the late Clifford Jerry Kingsmill, of Houston County, TN, September 12, 1958. Melva and Jerry moved around quite a bit before going back to their roots and settling down in 1985 in Erin, TN. Melva was mother to two daughters, Cheryl Kingsmill and Jackie Wilson. Six years after her first husband, Jerry, passed, she married the late Zelt King Dunbar, of Fairfield, TX, August 25, 2004. Melva and Zelt traveled the world until Zelt passed in November 2010. She lived a happy and prosperous life in Erin until 2011, when she moved to Lillian, AL, where she lived with her daughters until her passing. Melva leaves behind her mother, Ella Smith-Winters of Palmyra, TN, her two daughters, Cheryl Kingsmill of Lillian, AL and Jackie Wilson of Salem, AL. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Justin McClure, Wendi Csorba, Ashley Wall, and Megan Clark, five great grandchildren; Zoe and Tavey Tatom, Zackary Huston, Emma McClure, and Caleb Clark, and seven siblings; Thomas Smith, Pearl Allen, Jane Howell, Phillip Smith, Frances Smith, John Smith, and Norman Smith. She is also survived by eighteen nieces and nephews and eleven great nieces and nephews, and many friends. The family has asked that instead of flowers or plants, donations be made in Melva’s name to Covenant Hospice Facility, 5041 North 12th Ave, Pensacola, FL 32504.
