Melanie was born January 12, 1970 in Fort Campbell, KY. She was a 1988 graduate of Northeast High School and a member of New Faith Baptist Church.
She is survived by her mother, Rebecca Cherry Welker; father, Al Helling and stepmother, Helen Helling; sister, Laura Whisenhunt and husband, Tone Whisenhunt; two step-sisters, Lynn Suiter, Lisa Boulier; and nephew, Jayce Whisenhunt; three nieces and two nephews.
