Mavis Nell Rowland, age 80, of Cumberland City, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Houston County Community Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home with the Revs. Samuel Curtis and Ted Denny officiating. Burial will follow in the Sykes-Smith Cemetery.
The Rowland family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.
Mavis entered into this life on December 15, 1932 in Humphreys County, Tennessee, daughter to Joseph and Wilma Ethel Tester Curtis. She was a retired CNA from the former Trinity Hospital in Erin and took great pride in the care she provided for her patients. Mavis was a member of the church family at Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving husband, Hartwell Rowland of Cumberland City; children, Billy Allen of McEwen, Jimmy Franklin Allen of Erin, June Thomas of Erin, and Dana Jackson of Sango; siblings, the Rev. Samuel Curtis of Charlotte and Sue Edwards of Michigan. She was grandmother to five and great grandmother to four. Mavis was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Allen.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Hill, Scott Roberson, Sammy Allen, Jeff Simpkins, Steve Jackson, and Jeff Mathis.
