Mattie Nelle Burney Parker, 84, Cumberland Furnace, Tn, died Monday, August 10, 2009, at Horizon Medical Center, Dickson, TN. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McReynolds-Nave and Larson Chapel with Rev. Tim Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Mt Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home. She was born February 26, 1925, in Paul Gray Hollow - Cumberland Furnace, TN and was preceded in death by her parents, John Jefferson Franklin "Stricklick" and Ara Lee Gilliam Burney; sisters, Annie Belle Murphy, Lydia Virtress Wall; brothers, James Willis Burney, John Ewin Burney, Joe Glendon Burney and William Thomas Burney. She was a Homemaker and a member of Cumberland Furnace Church of Christ. She enjoyed quilting, canning, gardening and visiting with family and friends. Survivors include husband of sixty six years, William C. "Buddy" Parker, Cumberland Furnace; daughter, Sandra (Dan) Walker, Clarksville; sons, Bob (Polly) Parker, Woodlawn, David (Lisa) Parker, Cumberland Furnace; brother, Dr. JF (Earlene) Burney, Salem, TN; Sister, Ida Lee (Harry) Penney, Romulus, Mich; grandchildren, Michael Parker, Cumberland Furance, Dee Walker, Clarksville, Danny Walker, California, Kevin (Misti) Walker, Clarksville, Kathey (Tim) Dines, Clarksville, Ashleigh (Lance) Fuhrman, Clarksville, Blake E. Parker, Dotsonville; great-grandson, Ryan Dines, Clarksville; great-granddaughter, Makayla Eller, Clarksville; loving caregivers, Dee and Mark. Pallbearers will be Mike Burney, Steve Burney, Hunter Burney, Jeff Burney, David Murphy, Dow Murphy and Jacob Burney.
