Mary Minerva Wolfe Young, age 93 ½ went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 12, 2017.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Excell Baptist Church with Rev. Terrell Marcom officiating. Burial will follow at Sango Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday at the church.
Mary was born August 10, 1923 in Indian Mound, TN to Elmer and Judieth Wolfe.
She grew up with and married the love of her life, Brandon Young on January 17, 1946. They were married for 63 years until his death February 21, 2009. She was a charter member of Excell Baptist Church. Brandon and Mary helped establish Excell Church in their home. Mary graduated from Draughn’s Business College and served in many various jobs- Iglehart Bros., Dr. William Lyle, APSU Post Office, ASC Office, Billy Beard LP Gas Co.
She was an avid cook, baking cakes for her doctors, bankers and friends. She was also a talented seamstress and gardener.
Mary taught G.A.'s, was WMU director, taught Sunday school, and worked in nursery department at her church. She was involved in the USO and APSU Baptist Student Union.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, one brother, and one son-in-law, James Wortman.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Wortman of Eastland, TX, Kathy (Kenneth) Webb of Clarksville, TN and Teresa (Kevin) Reff of Springfield, TN and son, Kenneth (Tammy) Young of Clarksville, TN; grandchildren, Jimmy Wortman, Michael (Tracie) Wortman, Douglas Wortman, Melissa Horan, Tony (Martha) Webb, Tracey Webb, Justin Webb, Tyler (Allison) Young, Isaac Reff, and Aaron Reff; great-grandchildren, Allison Wortman, John Wortman, Jessica Wortman, Andrew Wortman, Dana Akins, Myra Coen, Laura Horan, Makayla Webb, Caleb Williams, Joshua Williams, Gracie Webb, Noah Webb, and Soren Young; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tennessee Baptist Children's Home at 1310 Franklin Road, Brentwood, TN 37027 or Excell Baptist Church at 328 Excell Road, Clarksville, TN 37043.
