Mary McWhorter

Mary Elizabeth `Pete` McWhorter, 88, Cunningham, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Gateway Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. Tim Ferrell and Rev. David Mackens officiating. Burial will be in Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home.
McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born May 27, 1922 to James Oscar and Clara K. Baggett Bearden. She married I.B. Wilson McWhorter on December 23, 1939. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years; her parents; step-mother, Laura Castleberry-Bearden; brothers, James Aubrey Bearden, Norris Curtis Bearden, William Thomas Bearden and Charles Castleberry; great-granddaughter, Abbagail Leigh. Survivors include her four children, Charles Wilson McWhorter, Peggy Baggett (Charles), Faye Johnson (Billy), Beth Adams (Eddie); brothers, Bobby Bearden (Juanita), Daniel Bearden, Bennie Bearden (Barbara), Donald Ray Bearden (Elaine); sisters, Frances Hodges (Eddie), Betty Jo Atkins, Wilma Faye Breaden (Larry); seven grandchildren, Billy Joe Baggett, Charlene Baggett, Patti B. Ellis (Ken), Dudley Baggett, Jennifer Huenink (John), Larry Adams, LeAnne Webber; thirteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ken Ellis, Larry Adams, Mitchell Ellis, Cody Baggett, Roger Dale Cato, and Chris Bearden. Honorary pallbearers will be Dudley Baggett, Steven Mark Bearden, James Michael Bearden and Kyle Baggett. Memorial contributions may be made to Gum Springs Baptist Cemetery, 5270 Marion Road, Cunningham, TN 37052.
