Mary Lavon Livingston, age 95, devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend and to so many, died at Dogwood Bend in Clarksville, TN on Tuesday, June 23th, 2015, peacefully, in her sleep.
Mary was born January 06, 1920, in Champaign, IL to the late Ray and Etta Austin and twin sister to the late Marie Katherine McGee. Mary’s pride and adoration for her family, her legacy of 5 generations - 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 11 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, with a 3rdGreat-Great Grandchild on the way, is a testament to the rich and fruitful life she led. Mary was married to Robert Livingston, the love of her life until his untimely death at the age of 72, and together they had three children, Kathleen Marie Clapp, the late Jane Ann McIntyre and David Robert Livingston.
Mary was the ultimate mom – everything she did was for her family. She wasn’t just a wonderful wife and mother/grandmother, she was a professional - an active member in her church, Community, Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout Leader, and a secretary for the school system for many years. Later in life she ran the Chanute Air Force Base museum. Her talent as an artist, her love of music and dance, her joy for the little things in life, and her ultimate gift of laughter will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held in Rantoul, Il. At 10:00 am , followed by a burial service at Elmwood Cemetery. Friends and relatives are welcome to join the family at Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul, Il.
We would especially like to thank all of the staff of Dogwood Bend and Asera Care Hospice group, for their professionalism, devotion and genuine compassion throughout her last few years and especially last weeks of her life.
