Mary Betty Beard

Mary “Betty” Beard, age 85 of Cumberland City, TN, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024 at her residence. 

 A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Buchanan officiating. 

 Family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service Saturday afternoon.

 Ms. Betty entered this life on September 14, 1939 in Cumberland City, TN, daughter to the late Hubert and Gertie Pulley. 

 Ms. Betty faithfully worked for the City of Erin for 38 years and was a member of the Cumberland City Church of Christ. She was an avid bible reader and an enthusiastic supporter of all her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and musical performances. She attended all that she could and cheered with abandon. 

 She graduated from W.T. Thomas High School in 1959 and enjoyed the times she got to see her classmates. Her favorite hobbies were fishing, and watching wildlife. She spent many hours at TVA and Elk Harbor with her friend Bobbie Jean Turner; and later with her grandsons. 

 In addition to her parents, Ms. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Donald Beard; and sisters, Mary Bailey, and Dorothy Baggett. 

 Survivors include her loving daughters, Jaqueline Lynn (Arnold) Lemons, Anissa Beard; siblings, Ruth Herrington and Amanda Fallon, and Howard (Rose) Pulley. Betty also leaves behind grandchildren, Nolen (Madison) Miller, Nick Lemons, Bryant Lemons, Adam Buchanan, and Halee Buchanan; two great-grandchildren, Jax Miller and Bracey Miller.
