Martha Cogburn

February 9, 1925 — April 20, 2012

Martha Frances Seay Cogburn, age 87, of Clarksville, passed away April 20, 2012 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
A celebration of life will be 1 PM Monday April 23, 2012 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. Kyle Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 4 PM to 7 PM and Monday 12 Noon until time of service at the funeral home.
Martha was born February 9, 1925 in Montgomery County the daughter of the late Herbert and Lachlan Stewart Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children Thomas Rollow Seay Jr. and later Ralph Cogburn, and a granddaughter Lucibeth Lynn Buthje, grandson Ryan Seay, and a sister Dorothy Stewart Mobley.
Martha and her husband Tommy Seay opened the Plaza Grill, a well known restaurant on Madison Street that spanned from 1947 to the mid 1990’s , it was a meeting place for many Clarksvillians and even a few celebrities such as entertainer “Danny Thomas”. After her husband Tommy died, Martha married Ralph Cogburn who helped with the restaurant.
Martha was a lifetime member of First Christian Church, and enjoyed the Doll Club, and former member of The Lions Club.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Richard (Dicky) Seay and wife Yvonne, daughter Janet Seay Mosley and husband Vernon all of Clarksville, sister, Mary Louise Chester and husband Millard of Concord, NC, grandchildren Charles Richard Seay, Tara Mosley Taylor and Meghan Seay, and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stewart Mobley, Jeff Taylor, Jake Welch, Steve Keating, Patrick Walk, Jonathan Walk and Brent Buthje.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 516 Madison St. Clarksville, TN 37040.
