Marcus Dale Hammon, age 71, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 10, 2017.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. The Hammon family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 12 noon until the hour of service on Friday at the funeral home.
Mark was born on January 3, 1946 and grew up in DeQuincy, LA. He later joined the Navy and met the love of his life, Brenda, and together they enjoyed 49 wonderful years of marriage.
Mark was a past Trane employee of 25 years and later retired after 20 years as a Health Physicist from the Division of Radiological Health, Tennessee Dept. of Environment and Conservation. He also drove state employees to and from Nashville for many years (The Van Group).
Mark was a devoted father and grandfather. He was also a dedicated bass fisherman. He enjoyed traveling to all fifty states, visiting national landmarks along the way with the people he loved most. Also, he enjoyed the time he served as a Boy Scout Leader. Mark gave his time and talent to nature, graduating in 1977 from Austin Peay State University with a degree in Biology.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Rougon and Ethel Greer Hammon, and brothers, Joe, Dub, and Wallace Hammon. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Curtis Hammon, sons, Dale Hammon (Norma) of Singer, LA, Greg Hammon (Angela) of Versailles, MO, daughter Amy Tinker (John) of Clarksville, grandchildren, Cynthia Paige Sucher (Eric) of Clarksville, and Scott and Marcus Hammon of Versailles; great grandchildren, Ellie Saige and Oaklyn Rose Sucher; sisters, Mary Hammon of Groves, TX and Martha Rainwater of DeQuincy, LA.
Pallbearers will be Dale, Greg, Scott, and Marcus Hammon, John Tinker, and Eric Sucher. Jerry Greenwell will serve as honorary pallbearer.
