Marie Zenker

Marie Louise Zenker, age 93, passed away on January 21, 2019, at Morning Pointe Senior Living Facility in Frankfort, Kentucky. Previous to her year-long residence at Moring Pointe, Marie was a long-time resident of Clarksville, Tennessee, and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarksville.
Marie was born Marie Louise Conroy on December 7, 1925 in Wichita, Kansas. She is preceded in death by her infant twin sister, Teresa, her parents Robert P. Conroy and Edna Mae Teevans Conroy, her brother Robert P. Conroy, Jr. (Ann) and her husband of 42 years, Rudolph Agatho Zenker. Marie is survived by her loving family; children, Terry Hume (Mike Mattingly), Kathy Bolger (Kevin), Andy Zenker (Jill), Roberta Zenker, Mike Zenker, and Mary Folmer, eleven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Marie earned a teaching degree at Wichita State University, worked for a time at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and the Ohio League of Nursing Association in Columbus, Ohio. In Clarksville she served as a docent at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Historical Museum, as a religious educator at Immaculate Conception Parish, and was active in the Tennessee Extension Homemaker’s Club. She served as librarian for Immaculate Conception Church for many years, ans as president of the Newcomer’s Club for several years. She was a member of the Fieldstone Place Quilting Club. She was an avid reader, accomplished knitter, gardener, bird lover, and world traveler. She was a talented seamstress throughout her life and took great pleasure in creating craft projects. Marie was very proud of her Irish heritage and greeted every day with joy and smiling “Irish Eyes”. She will be remembered by all for her cheerful uncomplaining countenance and her prayerful devotion to her faith.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, and again on Monday, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
