Marie Stockard (Completed) - 1918 Marie Stockard, 91, Tennessee Ridge, died Friday, June 12,2009, at her residence. The funeral will be held at 2pm Sunday at Nave Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.Beverly Dycus,Rev.Denise Settles, Rev.Ken Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Gray-Barnes Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30am till 8pm Saturday and from 8am till service Sunday at the funeral home.
Nave Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ms.Stockard who was 91 years of age was loved by all and often referred to as the southern lady by those who knew her.She has departed from this life after a lengthy illness to travel to her heavenly home.Ms.Stockard passed away at her daughter's home in Tennessee Ridge,on June 12,2009.She was preceded on her journey by Parents Martin and Anna Ellingson,Husband Malcolm (Pos)Stockard, Brother Martin Ellingson(Jeneal)Sisters Lona Day(Martin)Virginia Winfrey(Bill) Survived by Sisters Irene Williams (George) of Hayward,California, Lynette Deason(John) of Tennessee Ridge,Tennessee Brother Billy Ellingson(Nelda) of Erin,Tennessee, Daughter Dianne Spurgeon (Howard) of Tennessee Ridge,Tennessee, Son William(David)Marable of Lovettsville,Virginia. Grandson Howard Spurgeon II(Kelly) two great grandchildren Cody and Carly of Clarksville,Tennessee granddaughter: Natalie McLimore(Nathan) and two great grandchildren Connor and Ashley of Clarksville, Tennessee. Numerous Nephews and Nieces.Ms.Stockard was a 50 plus year member of Tennessee Ridge Home Demonstration Club;a member of Farm Bureau where she participated in kids to the farm program; Lifetime Blood Donor;delivered meal-on-wheels,and during WWII known as a Rosie the Riveter.She was a life long member of the Tennessee Ridge United Methodist Church were she served as treasurer of the Methodist Women Society and Sunday School Teacher,She worked tirelessly as the first clerk of City of Tennessee Ridge and served as President of Parent Teachers Association.Ms.Stockard was well known as a community volunteer,avid Bird watcher, reader and a strong supporter of the annual Irish Day including being selected as a winner of the most green. Ms Stockard was also a former Senior Mrs. Tennessee, and a proud mother, grandmother and Grannie Ree to her family. Special in her last year have been her caregivers: Mrs. Willie Ramey, Omie Coffelt, and Ms. Pam Armstrong. Pallbearers will be Jerry Bryant, Randy Baggett, David Deason, Charlie Ligon, Randell French, Douglas Ellingson, Howard Day, Steve Mobley and Dickie Sykes. Honorary Bearers Howard Spurgeon II, Natalie McLimore, Connor McNiff, Cody Spurgeon, Ashley Short and Carly Spurgeon.
