Marian Barnes Schmidt

Marian Verline “Bodene” Barnes Schmidt, age 87 of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away October 23, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jessie James Schmidt, and her siblings Henry, Morris, Rudolph, and Lena Barnes Baxter. She is survived by daughters Jennifer (Rick) Mangrum and Denise (Jazz Zelley) Schmidt.
Marian Verline was born to Bennie Barnes and Lizzie Walters Barnes in Tennessee Ridge, Tennessee. She married Jessie July 27, 1957 in Mississippi, and they eventually made their home in Dickson, Tennessee until his death in 1971. She worked in factories during the war, and later she served as a security guard. She retired in 1988 as a Certified Nurse’s Aide.
“Bodene”, as she was often called, was a strong, independent woman who experienced many events in the world from the Great Depression and WWII up through the ever changing world of technology.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 4 – 7pm at the Hermitage Funeral Home in Old Hickory, TN. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 8 at 1pm with visitation from 12 – 1p at Nave Funeral Home in Erin, TN. Interment to follow at later date in Houston County, Tn.
