Margie Ann Schmidt, age 66 of Tennessee Ridge, TN, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at her daughter’s home while surrounded by her loving family.
A celebration of her life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Bible Baptist Church with Bro. Jay Wilburn and Pastor David Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the Schmidt Family Cemetery.
The Schmidt family will receive friends on Friday at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday afternoon at the church.
Margie entered this life on July 16, 1952 in Lexington, TN, daughter to the late Herchel Thomas Gateley and Maudie Irene Swafford. Upon graduation from Atwood High School, Margie pursued her Associates Degree in Math from Jackson State Community College where she started both years for her basketball, volleyball, and softball teams. Upon receiving her Associates Degree, she furthered her education by receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in secondary education from the University of Tennessee Martin. Margie served as the Houston County Technology Students of America advisor for 20 years, scoreboard keeper for varsity boys and girls basketball for 38 years, and was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church. Margie was a passionate educator and would retire from the Houston County School System after 38 years of service to her community and students. After her retirement, Margie spent her final years serving the Lord and spending time with her family.
In additions to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Francis Gateley.
Survivors include her loving husband of 44 years, Bill Schmidt; daughter, Aleena Schmidt (Adam), Lisa Buchannan (Scotty), David Scmidt (Brenda), and sister, Betty Hormell. Margie also leaves behind her precious grandchildren, Trey, Tyler, Trevor, April (Brent), Ashlee (Jamison), Joe (Theresa); great-grandchildren, Landon, Adam, Kayden, Charlotte, and Haylei.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Williams, Trent Schmidt, Doug Story, Kevin Schmidt, Kevin Manners, and Danny Ray Schmidt. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her current and past TSA students.
