Margaret Elizabeth Parker Phelps, age 97, went to be with Jesus on Friday, October 9, 2020 at her home in Council Grove, Kansas.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2020 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Her grandson, Dale Walker will be officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Margaret was born on June 27, 1923 in Indian Mound, TN to Richard and Gracie Morris Parker. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings; her husband, Raymond Phelps; son, Kenneth Atkins; daughter, Ann Gray; grandsons, Mark Atkins, and Jim Atkins; and her son in law, Larry Walker.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Walker of Council Grove, Kansas; son, Delma Atkins and wife Jenny of Clarksville; son in law, Lewis Gray of Jacksonville, Florida; eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren, twelve great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and some very special friends.
After the death of her husband in December of 2008, Margaret moved to Kansas to live with her daughter and son in law.
She was a homemaker. She professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of Woodlawn First Baptist Church. Her hobbies included dancing, gardening, doing word search puzzles, and watching Wheel of Fortune. She especially loved spending time with her family. She went by many names, Marge, Mocky, Mother, Mama, Mammaw, Mammoose, Mammy and she will be greatly missed.
