Margaret Atkins Hayes

Margaret Jean Atkins Hayes, age 83, of the Cumberland Heights community, passed away at her daughter's home on Saturday, January 6, 2018.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Jeter officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Jean's family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Margaret entered into this life on July 18, 1934 in Montgomery County to the late Coy and Ovie Neblett Baggett. She was retired from the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System where she enjoyed serving thousands of children over the years with food and smiles in the Montgomery Central cafeteria. Also, she was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Buford Atkins. She is survived by her loving husband, Harold Hayes; children, Gary Thomas Atkins (Carol), Buford Daniel Atkins (Kathy), and Gail Morris Gannaway (Robert); siblings, Donald Baggett, Nadine Gafford, Judy Blackwell, and Diane Hiner; grandchildren, Kent Atkins, Leslie Atkins Mooneyhan (Jeff), April Atkins Heaton, JD Atkins (Susan), Jessica Clark (Jonathan), Rachel Evans (Levi), and Erin Gannaway. She was also the proud great grandmother of eleven great grandchildren.
Jean's grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Jean's family would also like to express their warmest gratitude to the staff of Tennova Hospice for the care and kindness shown to Margaret in her final days.
