Maida Dougherty - 1921 Maida Chapin Dougherty, 88, Cumberland City, Tn., died Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Patients Choice Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 2pm Wednesday at Nave Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Lela Roby officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm Tuesday and from 8am until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Nave Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Maida was born August 16, 1921 in Philadelphia, New York. Daughter of Arthur and Hazel Chapin. She was a teacher at WT Thomas Elementary. and Dover Elementary School. She retired from Stewart County School Systems. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Soroity and the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association. Maida is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Hazel Chapin and one sister Thelma Hagen of Lockport, NY. Survivors include her husband William E. Dougherty of Cumberland City Tn., one daughter Alicia (Doug) Barber of Clarksville Tn., and one sister Korleen Cook of Philadelphia, NY. Pallbearers will be Bailey Gafford, Ray Gafford, Jamie Gafford, Mark Dortch, Kenny Dortch, Phil Taylor, Gary Vaughn, Hart Vaughn, Eddie Rye and Lynell Rye.
