Maddie (Peg) Babcock, 91, Dover, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at Manor House of Dover. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Gorsline Runciman East Chapel, East Lansing, MI. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, East Lansing, Michigan. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the hour of service Monday at Gorsline Runciman East Chapel at Gorsline Runciman East Chapel.
McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born in Walkersville, West Virginia on October 26, 1917 to Ballard and Vallie Blake Bleigh. She was married to William Babcock who preceded her in death in 1965. During the World War II years, Peg worked for the Cleveland Ohio Automatic Machine Company where she operated a turrett lathe in the manufacure of heavy bore cannons. She made many firends during many years of operating an eating concession at the former Lake Lansing Amusement Park. For many years Peg was employed at the East Lanisng Post Office and she reitred from there in 1981. She resided at the Grange Acres in Haslett where she had many friends. Peg was a member of the Capitol Grange #540, American Legion Auxiliary #269 and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tom, Carl and Sam Bleigh; sisters, Rhoda and Virginia Bleigh, Blanche Burkhammer, and Eliza Steele. She is survived by brothers, William of Lisbon, OH and Cleve of Woodlawn, TN; half-sister, Kate Bleigh; half-brothers, Hugh, Ralph, Charles, Don, Jim and Delbert Bleigh, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
