SFC Luke E. Hortenstine, 35 of Cumberland Furnace, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015 at his home.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Hortenstine Family Cemetery in Illinois.
Luke was born August 11, 1980 in Illinois, the son of Marc Hortenstine and Diane Thull Hortenstine. He was currently serving in the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Campbell as an active duty soldier and was an Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran. In addition to serving in the U.S. Army, he was a devoted Christian who served as a youth leader at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Due to his great love for hunting and fishing, Luke currently was a HOOAH volunteer.
Luke was survived by his devoted wife Tina Hortenstine; son, Nicholas Hortenstine; daughters, Ashley Boucher and Brooklyn Hortenstine; parents, Marc Hortenstine and Diane Thull Hortenstine; brothers, Nathan Hortenstine and Ben Hortenstine. His brother, Daniel Hortenstine proceded him in death.
